To support this initiative, they are is seeking a Germany-based external advisor with deep expertise in energy systems, electricity markets, regulatory frameworks, and future industry trends.
This engagement is designed as a low-time-commitment advisory role, suitable for an experienced professional working as an independent consultant.
Job Responsibilities
Share expert knowledge on EU and German energy regulation, including:
Electricity market design and pricing mechanisms
Grid access, usage fees, and congestion management
Regulatory treatment of battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Flexibility, balancing, and ancillary service frameworksProvide forward-looking perspectives on the future of the German and European energy industry, such as:
Expected evolution of electricity markets and pricing structures
The future role of energy storage, flexibility, and demand-side management
Integration of renewables, electrification of industry, and grid constraints
Likely regulatory and market developments impacting new energy businessesExplain how both current and future frameworks influence:
Energy arbitrage and optimization models
Industrial energy management services
Power procurement, resale, and aggregation conceptsShare insights gained from experience with:
Energy consultancies
Transmission System Operators (TSOs)
Utilities, grid operators, or large energy consumersSupport team with strategic recommendations, workshops, and presentations, translating European lessons into insights applicable to Japan
Job Requirements
Professional background in:
Energy consulting
Electricity utilities
Transmission System Operators (TSOs)
Power markets, grid operations, or regulatory affairsStrong expertise in:
EU and German energy regulation
Electricity market mechanisms and grid frameworks
Energy storage, flexibility, and system integrationAbility to discuss future market and regulatory trends, not only current rules
Senior-level experience (typically 5+ years strongly preferred)
Currently active as, or willing to act as, an independent consultant / freelancer
Business-level proficiency in German and English
Ability to clearly explain complex technical and regulatory topics to non-European stakeholders
Engagement Details
Role type: External Advisor / Independent Consultant
Time commitment: Approx. 2–5 hours per week
Project duration: Approximately 3 months but it may prolong.
Engagement style: Advisory (no operational responsibility)
Compensation: High-level professional fee
Location: Germany-based (primarily remote collaboration with Japan)
